For BVB International Academy El Paso player Steven D., this summer brought an opportunity to take his development beyond the United States and experience football in an entirely new environment.
Steven traveled from El Paso to Warsaw, Poland, where he attended a BVB soccer camp hosted by BVB Academy WBS Warsaw. The experience gave him the chance to train in a European setting, meet players from another part of the world, and continue learning within the Borussia Dortmund football culture.
Throughout the week, players participated in multiple training sessions designed to challenge them technically, tactically, and physically. The camp also incorporated activities beyond the field, including team-building, a nutrition workshop, BVB competitions, and a Champions League-style tournament.
For a young player, experiences like this are about much more than simply playing soccer.
Traveling internationally requires players to adapt to a different environment, different teammates, new coaches, and new expectations. It challenges them to become more independent, confident, and comfortable outside their normal routine.

One of the unique aspects of being part of BVB International Academy is the connection players have to a much larger football community.
Whether training in El Paso, Warsaw, Dortmund, or another BVB International Academy location around the world, the Black and Yellow identity creates opportunities for players to experience different cultures while sharing a common passion for the game.
Steven's trip is another example of what that connection can look like.
He was able to represent BVB International Academy El Paso internationally while experiencing firsthand how Borussia Dortmund's football philosophy extends beyond Germany and into academies around the world.
Bringing the Experience Back to El Paso
The greatest value of an experience like this often comes after the trip is over.
Steven returns to El Paso with new training experiences, new friendships, greater independence, and a broader understanding of the game. Those lessons can now become part of his continued development within the BVBIA El Paso environment.
